NRE accounts--> interest earned is not taxable in India but has to be reported in your 1040 here.
NRO accuont--> earns very high interest rates (was 11%) just a few months ago. There will be TDS but you can file an income tax return and claim the amount that they deducted above what you would be taxed.
For eg:- if your total interest earned is 100,000 they would withhold upto 30% of it (may be lesser depending upon your situation). When you file your returns your total income is only 100,000 which is below the taxable limits and therefor you will be returned all that was witheld. Only those with interests >180,000 per anum will really lose money.
Some people split accounts and try to hide interest income. This is not advisable if you ever want to repatriate the interest income. Once you have payed required taxes on the interest you can repatriate any amount of interest income to the US. Many people use this as a source of regular income.

My friend received a letter from USCIS in response to his phone call asking then why they have not taken a decision inspite of 60 days expired after responding RFE. This is what the letter mentions.
The status of this service request is:
Your application is pending the availability of 3rd preference employment based Visas. Currently there are none available. You are invited to visit the Department of State website where you may keep abreast of any developments regarding this classification of Visa.
What does this mean ? Now, he don't have to worry about any future RFE/Denials ? Can he make his future plans assuming he will get his GC one day ?? His PD is 2001.
please advise guys ..

With the new fee structure, you would not have to pay USCIS every year to renew your interim benefits (EAD/AP). This would be most helpful if you are from a retrogressed country and don't expect adjudication any time soon. But, I am not sure what disadvantage you would have if you wait and file on July 30 instead of July 1...obviously there would be a ton of people before you. Personally, I am not sure how everything would play out and if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Since many are about to file their I 485 petitions, there was some talk about some advantages to filing this petition when the new fee structure goes into effect end of July.
One might be able to wait till mid July to see the August bulletin come out, if PD still current then could file in August with the new fee structure.
Question I had was -
What are the advantages if any to filing when the new fee structure is in place?
or should one file the earliest date one can, say 1st week of July?

Does the cover-letter you included while filing your 485 include your job duties?
thats basically what you need, to make sure your new duties/position are inline with what was decribed in the LC.
We have a company lawyer. Only thing I have is 485 receipts, FP notice, EAD and AP.
Nothing has been shared with us till I-140 approval.
Upon my demands, all I got is my I-140 application number. My HR dept has a strict position that I-140 & LC are employer documents and it will NOT BE Shared with employees.
I still doubt that USCIS will expect me to have these documents.
Any ideas How can I know job description? Can I call USCIS? dont' think they will entertain?
I am about to file for H1B extension. Is there anything here that can give me some idea about job description? I guess H1B and LCA job description should be same. isn't it???

Hi,
My wife's EAD card returned back and message showing , card returned by Postal, undeliverable and need response by 180 days with update the address, yesterday's message.
Actually she got her FP and EAD notice receipt number to the same address, but card returned back.
But in this case I saw 20days back, card production ordered and sent the notice. And I am waiting for the card to be delivered and 30days to wait to ask customer service.
Request:
Can you please let me know , how to reach customer service representative with options type?.
This happens from time to time dont know why but it happens.It happened for my wife too , we had efiled for EAD and her application status showed that notice(FP) returned as undeliverable. My wife wrote back to USCIS

(for example we put in copies of 485 recipt notice,485 FP notice,EAD recipt notice) and it seems to a mistake of USPS. She also wrote to the Local Postmaster as to why the notice from USCIS was returned and in future all this should not reoccur. Within a day or two we got her EAD approved and recieved it in mail.
The point I am trying to make is that calling(it might not be the best option as lines are busy,reps dont have the info you would like etc) as well as writing does help when u know the where to send mail , we were lucky as we had efiled so it does specify where to send the application and docs .Good Luck.

There was no agreement signed. It was just agreed on an email. Am i still bound with the emplyment laws. Just want to understand before taking any steps. Also the project has ended after 4 month but i don't have any document. Also company B can't reveal any internal documents.
If no agreement is signed once you receive the legal notice, take it to an attorney and respond with legal notice. Do not get scared by this thugs.
Just let them know you are ready to handle it legaly and ask them to send legal notice. If you know any of their irregularities tell them you are going to send the complaint to USCIS.
Just for $2 only idiots will go for legal notice and law suit. They would be spending in thousands for that. Its funny how these desi thugs thinks and threatens.
