Message from USCIS Director Emilio Gonzalez
I understand that individuals are planning to send flowers to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) beginning on Tuesday, July 10. USCIS has made arrangements to forward those flowers to our injured service members recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
But yes, media is all over it

actually, lets make another category 3.c. people who have shifted jobs after ead using AC21 and now want to or already have started a company for side business (that may be in the labor/perm cert job description or outside)...
So, I am 3.c. and so is perhaps matreen... after digesting my conversation with the lawyer for two three days now, i am feeling that it might be worth taking the risk of doing a side business. after all, we are not doing anything that is uncivil or criminal... just trying to boost our incomes and perhaps contribute to an industry or something like that... that noble intention could be viewed as an exclusive intention in relation to the intention to continue permanent employment with the new GC sponsoring employer... what do you guys think?
3 c. is very similar to 3 a. Although you have used AC21, you are still working on a job that is as per the Labor Certification (if not, then you have bigger problems as AC21 can only be used for same/similar jobs). 3 c. *might* add a level of complexity for your case, but I think you should be fine. The reason I say this is that AC21s have a higher chances of RFEs especially if your previous employer revoked the I-140.
But again, we should cross the bridge when we get there and as long as we are doing something legal, we should be fine even though it might be a grey area. Being future entrepreneurs, we need to get accustomed to taking risks :)

Thanks for clarification. I still disagree with you. Media outlets do measure the intensity of the issue but not by amount of SPAM they receive in e-mails. From my personal experince in talking to a journalist, if you send them an e-mail regarding the issue they have published they will definitely defend their point or refute yours and may even look at the issue from your point of view but in all cases they will reply. Now if you want to bring an issue to their attention all you need is take their article and simply put your perspective on it. It will have a far greater impact if it comes as a collective voice of an Organisation such as IV. That's why I originally questioned our approach of spaming them by sending 1000's of e-mail with the same issue. It doesn't bring much to the table. Right ? That's precisely the reason why all organisations have a media relations person who represents the collective view of the entire organization and manage the press releases and all contacts with media.
Tell me about getting a response from reporters. It all depends on their whims and fancies. If they want to write, they are after you. If they dont want to they evade your emails. You have already considered our emails SPAM :) Thats what it would be considered if a bunch of people send the exact same email body. If we do send different message, it might still occur to them or a click to these forums will make them feel that we are trying to get more media exposure. What if the reporter you are writing to has an opinion similar to that of Tancredo on H1B? You are talking about taking an article and putting a perspective on it. Can you be more elaborate? If you are talking about articles being written on us, I believe there are not a lot. How ever there are talk shows that go into every home in the country that do propaganda work. For example a reporter at NPR replied to my email, how ever she doesnt revisit any story atleast for an year. I agree with your idea of Press Releases and I believe it was discussed before. I believe Pappu is working on it and I can do any help needed. How ever, I do not agree that we will be considered SPAM unless its the same message COPY/PASTE. 1000 emails?? Are you kidding me? I am sure it hasnt gone beyond 10 and will not go beyond 25 in the worst case.
If you dont believe what I am saying try contacting the local radio/tv station and see how you the thing works. What you are talking is IDEAL, But we dont live in one. Do we?

Looks like 25% of those still waiting are in 2005 - this blows away the earlier predictions that the dates will advance quickly through 2005 - looks like pre perm cases are considerable! I was hoping that it would reach my PD atleast in Sep 2010, but now, it looks only 50-50 chance (dont ask me how i arrived at the 50-50 number, just pulled some numbers from the air :) )!

With the May 09 Visa bulletin out, it should now be even more clearer to everyone that there will no progress without coordinated action. This poll shows there are at least 40 people who are interested in doing something to make a difference (thanks to those who have participated so far). Of course, I cannot believe there are not more people out there who want to step forward and make a commitment towards achieving their goal!
At the same time, I am really surprised by the lack of response by Core as well! Maybe there are not enough people in Core to be going around posting in these threads, but isn't that a problem?? I am even more convinced we need to meaningfully expand the Leadership organization and involve more people in order to move forward. It's not realistic to have the same people running around trying to do everything but it doesn't have to be that way.
Core team, would appreciate a response.

And always send via USPS express mail. (1 day costed me $18) but I came to know instantly the next day that they received it.
You could also use some cheaper USPS option. as long as it has some delivery confirmation.
The reason I like express mail one day, is because u can request a copy of the receiver's signature via email (comes in a PDF). This is proof that USCIS really got it and u can then sleep nicely for the next 3 months.
Ha Ha.
Hi dilip,
Where do we get the A# from ?

I have similarly checked a site here in MA which most of the local indian community visits. The prices are little high and I'm negotiating. If sulekha is visited a lot please enquire about the prices and then you can forward to the media committee.
I'm planning to contribute to the ad myself if the local website agrees to my terms. (Still bargaining !)
Sukekha.com is the most visited website for INDIANS in NORTHEAST....for all classifields. Would it be very expensive to put up some banners in LEADING indian websites where lot of INDIAN IT people visit.

News article from Sify below.
Can IV work with ITAA(a lobbying group representing high-tech companies) to lobby our cause too.
http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=14459414
Silicon Valley: The high-tech industry in the US has opposed the immigration bill being debated in the Senate, saying the measure as currently drafted would harm the American technology industry.
The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), a lobbying group representing high-tech companies, says the bill won't do enough to compensate for a shortage of skilled workers and will make it more difficult to hire qualified people from overseas.
In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, ITAA President and CEO, Phillip J Bond, said America's economy is strong and vibrant, but the country's future competitiveness rests on the ability of firms to recruit globally.
"As you know, the H-1B cap for FY '08 was reached in April, shutting out US employers from recruiting highly skilled foreign nationals who are graduating from US institutions with degrees in computer science, engineering, mathematics and other scientific and technical fields.
"Vacancies go unfilled and highly valued workers are forced to leave the country. Even worse, significant shortages exist in the permanent resident visa (green card) programme," Bond said.
Jeff Lande, a senior vice-president at the ITAA said the industry wants more people to be able to come into the country to fill shortages.
"We also want more green cards because for many companies they want someone to come in here who can innovate for their companies work for their companies and who can transition to permanent status," Lande told the National Public Radio.

Its simple. If your priority date is <Year> then you wish it to be in <Year> and you predict to be so and say that the rest of the categories will not move.

Hello,
I am new to this site and had a question about the Nov. bulletin that maybe someone might be able to answer. I am EB3 ROW and I am still not able to submit my I-140 + I-485 concurrently by 5 days (my PD is July 5, 2002).
Do you expect the EB3 ROW dates to move forward at all in the Dec. bulletin?
I just need to know because my lawyer is pressuring me to submit my I-140 not concurrently, but I wondered if I just should wait for a month.
Thanks in advance for your help!
