Happy with the outcome. Wished there were more mentions of other things. Not shocked about the prices of said iPhone. Was hoping for a basic phone/music device that could be affordable/usable by the rest of the carriers and not just for those who can spend money like it grows on trees.

I wish that Apple would get an indie band to perform instead of John Mayer or what ever his name is.

How about Wolf Parade, Modest Mouse, Broken Social Scene, Sleater-Kinney, Asobi Seksu...etc. Some band with more energy that appeals to the young, the independents.

IMO I don't think John Mayo is all that great of an artist. And that recent photo posted on MR does not do much to change my opinion.

First Jobs on an official vacation, jony seems to be rumored to be leaving for London, and now Serlet's gone. Man! must be something is wrong here...success getting into Apple's nerves?

3 unrelated events, followed by a stupid conclusion. Also..

    1. Jobs has cancer, if you haven't noticed. He's on on 'vacation'. It's a health leave.
    2. Ive isn't moving to London. The rumor has been discredited.
    3. People get replaced all the time. No reason to think it's a bad thing. Lion looks awesome.

I posted in a previous thread about having someone design a CPU speed program that lets you adjust CPU speed from the upper tool bar by the clock. Marcel Bresink wrote a great utility program, here it is.

Nooooooooo! Bertrand was my favorite SVP, no corporate BS spewing from his mouth, just good old honesty and genuine pride about how great things were and how bad everyone else was :) I will forever miss his accent at the keynotes. I'm guessing they asked him to talk in a keynote about the 'magic' of Lion, so he left in pursuit of science!

Yes, I believe he has a glass eye.

A glass eye with a rose color lens...

Amen to his comical French accent MS Roast's at Apple OS Keynotes... I'll miss too. All the best to your future, Bertrand.

I agree with the notion that people should try to take steps to avoid risk, and that people can greatly reduce personal risk by making safer choices.

But this nugget of wisdom does not really touch on the substance of the issue arising in the OP, to wit - how much responsiblity does a rape victim carry? Or, to turn the question around, how much of the rape is not the rapist's fault?

What kind of twisted logic hears of a rape decides that looking "like a prostitute" is the salient feature of the case? What about the crazed deviant who committed the crime in the first place? Indeed, I think Gelfin's analogy is apt - if a smartly-dressed man is mugged, should we simply shrug our shoulders and say "well, he looked like he had a lot of money so he was asking for it. He should have been wearing something less ostentatious."

It's also, by the way, fallacious to assume that only young, attractive and/or scantily-clad women are raped. Such suppositions are the product of the same twisted male chauvinist perspective that suggests that looking "like a prostitute" means that women are "asking for it".
As I have suggested, we cannot really know the answers to these questions without first interviewing (or obtaining transcripts of interviews of) rapists. Most of us on this forum are not rapists (I hope), so making broad inferences on what goes through such a monster's mind is rather pointless. If we can obtain a body of information that clearly demonstrates that rapists are commonly motivated by the victims' appearance/attire, then we can lend credence to the statement quoted in the OP. Prior to obtaining such evidence, to suggest that dress codes will improve school childrens' safety is at best unsupportable and at worst ridiculous. Odd that these "libertarian" types are back at attempting to steal away our freedoms.

12 PB = 12,884,901,888 MB. 200 million iTunes accounts (at the iPad 2 event).

Either everybody is getting 64 megabytes, or this is going to be more of a cloud locker for previous iTunes purchases (where the files are exactly the same for each user and don't have to be duplicated).

    You mean like here:

Apple should simply look at your posts and do the opposite. Success guaranteed.

I don't see your point other than trying to embarrass another user of this forum. Unless Apple is planning on integrating more social aspects into Maps, I don't see why they need to spend resources on this. And given Apple's history with trying to create social products, I don't have much faith in them doing just that. If Apple thinks they can do it better, all the more power to them. But if they are just creating their own Maps because they don't like Google, then I don't see how the users benefit.

Just because someone hasn't left iPhone 5 in a bar this year doesn't mean we are not going to see iPhone 5 in June like we have seen every single iPhone before it (ok iPhone 3G slipped into July, but big deal). Apple is predictable people. I guarantee that we will see an iPhone 5 in June. And ofcourse Apple hasn't given a roadmap out, because they are keeping it hush hush this year.
