Make sure it's plugged in and restart the computer, see if it shows up again.

Have a 3G iPhone. The battery wasn't holding a charge, so I decided to try another phone on AT&T - not really happy with it so want to go back to iPhone. I took to a mac repair store and they changed out the battery. The battery works great and it connects to my home network (which is working), but I can't seem to get it to run off wifi. No service plus wifi doesn't seem to work. Still have the SIM card. Have tried resetting phone, network, network settings, running in airplane mode, etc - nothing seems to work. It seems to get a full signal on the network, but it won't actually pull in data (load pages, etc.). I want to make sure the wifi is working properly before I go through the trouble of having AT&T reactivate the phone.
Any suggestions?

Hey everyone, I just picked up an ibook G4 1.33ghz 14". This is my first mac,and it was basically free. I added a 1gb memory stick, the ibook works great, I added leopard 10.5.8.
The problem is: When I unplug the ibook, I can use it on the setting "Better energy savgings" for a long time. BUT, the second I switch it to "Better performance" It shuts down and the battery will go from 100% to 1% in the second I switch to the better performance settings. If it is plugged in, I can use the better performance settings no problem.
Here is the battery info after running the command in terminal.
"IOBatteryInfo" = ({"Capacity"=62126,"Flags"=4,"AbsoluteMaxCapacity" =4400,"Voltage"=14472,"Current"=61778,"Amperage"=1 8446744073709550564,"Cycle $
It seems the battery is over its capacity and way over in amperage.
Should I replace the battery?

I love my new MacBook Air and I'm trying to squeeze every bit of battery life out of it as possible. As a result, I'm taking a different approach from my MacBook and not installing Flash on my MacBook Air. There is the occasional piece of content on the web that's Flash only, so I was wondering if instead of installing Flash altogether, can I simply use Google Chrome when I want to play such content? I've heard that Flash is built-in to Chrome, and I use Safari as my primary browser. This way I could keep my current workflow as it is, and simply launch Chrome whenever I want to play Flash content. Would that work?

Yep, the Apple branded cards are plug and play if you are running up to date Snow Leopard. Benchmarks indicate that the 5870 isn't much better in the 1,1 so I'd stick with the 5770. I got one shortly after they came out, and it has no problem running any Mac games at 1900x1200. For that matter, if you did get Bootcamp running it'll do Crysis well too.

You don't need a 256GB SSD - I've been using a FW800 80GB Intel X25m with my 2009 i7 iMac for over a year, and it's not even half-full. I use it only for the OS and Applications, with my user folder on the internal drive, and it works great - noticeably faster and more responsive than booting from the internal drive.
You can buy a decent 64GB SSD, put it in a FW800 enclosure, and save $300-400US. You won't get the Z68 caching features (assuming Apple is going to implement them), but for OS/Apps usage, FW800 works fine.

NSDictionary is it. objectForKey: tells you if there's an object stored with the specified key.
That's excellent, but how come the documentation makes no mention of this function?
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Cocoa/Reference/Foundation/Classes/NSMutableDictionary_Class/Reference/Reference.html
Is there any documentation that lists ALL the functions?
Thanks.

Hi everyone
I wanted to install windows on my mac to be able to play windows based games, but it turned out to be the biggest mistake iwe made in a while. At first the setup installed as supposed, but then it rebooted and took me to the setup again. I tried to install again, it installed, rebooted and took me back to the blue XP setup screen again. Same thing happens when i try to quit the setup, repair the installation and everything else. My mac is now stuck, i cant even get the Windows installer CD out. At this point i just want to exit the windows installer and get my OS back, i dont want to continue installing, can someone help me please? Im getting rather desperate.

I was sure i read an article posted on this forum, showing someone who did just that. Bought parts off ebay to build a G5 (mainboard, case etc)... or maybe it was to upgrade an original G5 . I remember something about it not working at the correct speed so he had to mess with it..
Anyhow. MacMini... best bet if you are after something simular to a PowerMac (as in no head and no inbuilt screen) or you could look in the refurbished sites - you can actually get Single CPU 1.8 for a quite reasonable price (a lot less than say a dual g5 2ghz).And one of the dudes from Momentum gave his a huge long technical direction on how to meld the mismatched parts and get the machine running right.
Look at BBoettjer's posts (http://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/8300945231/m/721002389631/r/120006915731#120006915731)
Even Apple parts from eBay may not be a piece of cake.
Edit: Same original poster user name on here.

I'd probably just get the new GPU. a 5770 or 5870 will play games like a champ, and is a ton cheaper than a new computer.

Same problem, and DFU mode did squad.
EDIT: Solved it, was a stupid "error code 1013" (so friggen tired right now I kept seeing 3101, good luck finding a fix for that). Had to delete some stuff from the host file and it worked.
Windows:
Step 1. Start –> Programs –> Accessories
Step 2. Run Notepad or WordPad
Step 3. Click “Open..” from File menu.
Step 4. Browse to Windows/System32/drivers/etc
Step 5. In "files of type:" select all documents
Step 6. Open "hosts"
Step 7. Delete all line that has "gs.apple.com" or something like that
Step 8. Hit Save
Step 9. Restore your device
Got the fix from: http://www.redmondpie.com/fix-itunes-error-1013-when-updating-iphone-4-to-ios-4.2.1/

I can see the Password feature being useful to some people, but this requires you use this software continually.
The Defrag feature may be the best thing, but I guess you would need to use it every so often to maintain the drive in check. It would be interesting to see how if any actual improvement can be noticed...

If you notice, most phones say "maximum working altitude 10,000ft"
It won't work up there. ;)
Environmental requirements
Operating temperature: 32 to 95 F
(0 to 35 C)
Nonoperating temperature: -4 to 113 F
(-20 to 45 C)
Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet (3000 m)

Thanks for the answers, guys.
Not really worried about fraud or anything; I just thought there might be a charge other than tax.
Nope - I've probably bought $20,000 worth of Apple stuff online (no, not all my own - some for my last job). It should go off wihtout a hitch.

I am now having an application, with receipt validation implemented.
In apple documentation it says i had to always exit the application with 173 status. Should i do so while submitting the application to the MAC store in real.
If so, I think an application can be used on multiple computers at a time. All what they have to do is to enter an iTunes login details each time the application popup's a login window.
Am i correct? If i am wrong, please educate me on this..
