Hi guys...
So yeah. I have this old iMac G3 that has been sitting in my closet for years, it hasn't been used for over 5 years. So I turn it on yesterday after discovering all the old Mac games on Macintoshgarden, and it works! :D
The specs go as follows:
G3 333 mhz, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB HD, OS 9.2.2
If i buy two 128 MB sticks at OWC, will I be able to run any Mac game from 2001 and older just fine? The early early Mac OS X games built for 10.0-10.1 that are 3D but also compatible with OS 9 are the ones that scare me the most.

Hello all,
I've been having the typical beachball and freezing issues that plague some of us that have decided to put an SSD in our MacBook Pros. After reading that Apple had released a different part number for the HDD cable (922-9062) I decided to check mine and see if I had the newer one. I did not, it was 821-0814.
I ordered a new cable from iFixit with the PN of 922-9062 listed on their website and received a 821-0814 cable. iFixit customer service says Apple does not change their part numbers externally on the device and that I in fact have a 922-9062 HDD cable now.
Can anyone confirm/refute this? Has anyone seen a 13" MBP HDD cable with 922-9062 printed on it?
This is NOT a thread intended to bash iFixit. They have been very good to me and I will continue to give them my business. I'm just hoping they're wrong in this one instance and I have a shot at getting my MBP to play nice with my SSD. :(

I had a similar PowerBook. I don't miss cleaning the mouse-ball rollers at all. Seriously, who has time for cleaning mouse balls?
The Performa specs are indeed hilarious. "High-performance, 60MHz CPU"! Wow. Now we're routinely walking around with computers in our pockets that clock about 40X faster than that, are probably more like 500X more powerful altogether, which run days on batteries, with a whole spectrum of connectivity options ranging from 2G to 3G to 3.5G to WiFi and Bluetooth, with GPS, with an accelerometer, with a compass, with a gyroscope, with a camera, with a touch interface, with a color display, with stereo sound and voice and now video calling... and which cost about an order of magnitude less even with inflation. All over about 15-17 years. Astonishing.

I'll have about 20 of the promo shirts from FastMac (http://fastmac.com/leopard.php#1) to give out. I'm supposed to be receiving the box today. I'll be there about 5:30.

I'm using an UIImagePickerController to set a picture from my cameraroll to a UIImageView. However the image is getting scaled automaticly inside this UIImageView because I mentioned 'scale to fit' inside the IB. I'd like to save my chosen image with a resolution of 80x80 pixels so that I won't have to scale. (My App is getting realy slow because of this scaling issue.)
Here's a snippit from my code:
-(void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker

Who thinks this is going to be a major, major update like some people are saying? With relations going ice cold with Microsoft, and Microsoft not exactly showing much interest in developing future mac apps, do you think the new version of Appleworks is going to be designed to take over for Office on OS X? It's been rumored that Office compatibility is a "major concern."

I didn't get "video to TV" from that. Connect to TV, yes. I'm guessing for music/pics, but not video.

I did a search and came up with no results, but I can't believe that I am the only person to have this issue.
I have a Mac Mini that I purchased new early 2010. I just notice this past weekend that my copy and paste as well as drag and drop stopped working.
I have been ripping a bunch of DVD's using handbrake, updating meta tags in Meta X, and then importing them to iTunes.
I first noticed the drag and drop when I tried to move files from a ripped folder to an imported folder after getting them successfully into iTunes. The copy and paste issue was when I was trying to populate some description fields in Meta X with information I copied from IMDB or Amazon to give a brief description of the movie. In both cases, nothing happened.
I'm not sure where to go with this. I have not called Apple Support and the nearest Apple Store is over an hour away.
Any thoughts?
BTW, I am running the current OS and all software is up to date with the current version.

Did you buy it from a crack head?

arn't they the same company who kept showing a rendered picture of something resembling a 1950's style mike and a radiator, constantly promising a 1Ghz G4 when all apple could offer was 500Mhz and then they released some half arsed overclocking device that was no more than a few jumpers and an instruction book or something ?
Seems funny they would make a typo like that :D

Unless someone else is footing the bill, try NeoOffice. It's free (donation requested) and is an Office look-alike. I use both NeoOffice and Pages, and they each have their strengths and weaknesses. But you might find NeoOffice does a better job in this case than Pages.

I sold a Mac 128k with an image writer, no software or anything with it, for about $400 two years ago if that gives you a range.

The real question is how much ram does your system have currently. The rule of thumb is:
If 2-4GB, the gains are nominal at best, however more memory can be addressed per single process.
If 8+GB, and straight from the factory on a 2010+ mac it should be booting in 64 bit mode to address all the memory. However, if you reinstall OSX it reverts back to 32-bit mode. Your gains will be much better here b/c the system will see 4GB of memory in 32-bit mode and 8+ in 64-bit mode. This is why sever OSes are strictly 64-bit today. Also, you should be able to assign more memory per process.
Hope that helps.

That sounds too good to be true though...

Haven't actually read any of the books, but Dreamweaver usually comes with a great set of tutorials. Try those, and if the learning curve still is too steep, go for the Dreamweaver Bible (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764543504/qid=1123025870/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/104-4406894-0006331?v=glance&s=books), The Missing Manual (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0596006314/qid=1123025847/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-4406894-0006331) or similar. :)

Seems to me you have bigger issues with your phone than jailbreaking.
