I use the DVD and CD collector from these guys. They are not free but they are pretty damn good. They even have an iPhone app...

As of right now my Time Capsule is sitting on my desk in my office. A friend of mine had his house broken into and had everything stolen, it made me start thinking about protecting my data. I am thinking about running cable and power to my closet and putting my Time Capsule in there. The closet is in the middle of a small house (1600 sq ft ranch), think I will have any signal issues? See any downside to doing this?
Thanks!
Unless your closet is made of bricks I doubt you'll have any problems. Even then it would probably be ok. Either way, you'll know right away.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no go. Ah, well. I may just reinstall over the weekend.Actually before you do that, try applying the 10.3.7 Combo update (the one that goes from any version of 10.3.x to 10.3.7) - this can help some oddball situations.

Nothing definitive has been announced. It seems like it has been more of a toy for Apple than anything serious so I wouldn't depend on it long term. I've never liked it personally.

Make sure you right-click it after copying all the items you want to burn into it. There's the "Burn folder to the disc" menu entry hidden somewhere over there :)

lol, your welcome. It's a great machine. Really upgradeable. I mean, seriously, even 5 years from now, I think if I put in a 512mb vid card, 8gb of ram and two 400gb (or larger dependent on tech then) harddrives, something tells me it would at least keep up ok. I mean, look at the B&W G3 towers, those are still pretty capable and I don't feel that they are at all as upgradeable comparing them to other computers of their era, and comparing this to computers of it's era (memory wise.) Of course, you can't upgrade the processor on these boxes though.
**edit**
Actually it'd be like comparing to the G4 tower lol, even better.

Or do you think Apple or 3rd parties are coming out with any with the new iPod in mind? I'd really love one for some of my video recording.

Yesterday Safari went APE on me not wanting to re-open itself, just instantly crashing, and today it works, but I get this on nearly every other page.
Image (http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5/audiogodz1/ScreenShot2011-05-03at15206PM.png)
It is driving me insane. I am also having issue with Safari running very slowly with multiple tabs open and this is on my 2010 i5 quad so it should be smoking along.
Other experiencing this webpages reloading pop up? This might be the first time I have had to abandon Safari for Firefox as all I am doing is error reporting on this machine at this point.
I am getting the same thing. This only started in the most current build for me. I have Clicktoflash installed, so I don't think it is a flash issue, but I have not bothered to investigate any further.

Same page if you scroll down says:
"Wonder twin power
The dual 1.25GHz PowerPC G4 processors with a combined performance of 18 billion floating point operations per second, or 18 gigaflops put this fearsomely fast Power Mac G4 squarely in the lead as the ultimate high-end graphics workstation. The twin-engined 1.25GHz G4 runs..."
So which is it? 1.5 or 1.25. Seems like one has to be wrong.

That looks to be a cheap or free DSL modem given to you by your internet provider? It's entirely possible it's just a piece of crap and you need a better router.
I got a free router built in with my FIOS modem, but it's a piece of crap. I hooked up an Airport Extreme to it and use that instead.

Look into Pump Audio or Crucial Music. If you're looking at smaller-budget projects, there are plenty of independent musicians/bands out there who are willing to work something out. What do you have in mind?

Anyone here collect (or originally buy) any of the Mac clones? I still have a PowerComputing Power 100 at my brother's house. I remember the cartoon on the powercc website when they lost their clone license. I should have saved it. :) Anyone have a copy? It was one of their trademark cartoons saying "OH #@!$@#$!" and it was up for a month I think.

Is that thru USB or Wifi?
Why not try another way of connecting your Mac? You have 3 options, Wifi, Bluetooth and USB.
It's using wifi. I don't know how to get the USB option to work, and didn't even know that MyWi supported Bluetooth.

I have a black 13" macbook that I got in 2008.
About two months ago, I started having problems with the screen. The backlight would just randomly die. At first I could get it to come back on by turning the brightness settings all the way down and then back up, or by putting it to sleep and waking it up again, or restarting. Over the course of about 1-2 weeks it got progressively worse to the point where I can only have the brightness turned up one notch, so it's at the very dimmest setting (without being totally black) and even then the backlight occasionally dies. From what I've read (and this may be incorrect) I believe that it's the display data cable that's dying.
I started using an external monitor because I didn't want to deal with repairs and such right in the middle of the semester (I'm a college student and need my laptop for school), but now that the semester is just about over though I'm starting to consider getting it repaired.

Steve Rosenbaum needs to learn how to use spell/grammar check. I've come to expect "loose" instead of "lose" and other spelling/grammar errors in forums, but this is an article on the Huffington Post. I got a little more than halfway through before I had to close the tab.
My personal favourite was the following opening few words to a paragraph, "google tv apple Apple wins on look and feel..."
Is it the iPhone auto-correct? And :apple:TV logo for the Apple logo?

Depending on what model and make of drive you have, you may be able to get unsupported firmware from the likes of rpc1.org. Using such firmware will void your warranty, because manufacturers are not allowed to support that capability in drives sold to the general public. Original Apple firmware is very hard to obtain for most drives, so this should be considered a permanent change.
It's easy to destroy a drive by flashing it with incorrect firmware, so make sure to research this thoroughly before proceeding.

Why would you want the space bar to act like an enter key?
You'd

this.
Yeah, in a word processing program. Expand your thinking a bit to other types of applications. For example, AutoCad for Windows requires a "return" (enter) to execute a command. Sometimes it takes several of them to get through a sequence. I'm sure many other programs have similar needs for that Enter key. Having the space bar as a substitute is convenient.
