There's always a chance that you may lose data, especially as disk failure could be the cause of the problems. Make sure you backup everything you need before doing anything else. But if the drive is not failing after all, then repairing the disk's file directory in disk utility should probably fix it.

I doubt there would be a huge difference, but if you are looking for numbers, the high end 15" MBP has the 6750M in it and there are lots of benchmark numbers for it floating around the 'net. That should give you at least a baseline of what to expect from the 6750m and if that is "good enough" for you, then I would roll with that.
Just my .02 worth.
P.S. Yes I realize that they utilize different processors, and other factors can cause the benchmark numbers to vary, but it is a good baseline for what to expect in the iMac.
Thanks dude. Will go check. Did not realise bout the MBP.

I have always in the past but when I tried on 2 separate occasions after purchase of white iphone they said they were cracking down on it. This was over the 611 number. I was going to wait until I get my bill and try again...

I would think its always safest to do a full clean install when dealing with a beta version of an OS.

Here is the unhappy event taking place on my computer. I'm on a site where I can watch movies and TV shows for free. But to watch most of them in the best format, I need to install a plugin. Well the link gives my a textedit form because it's not a download for mac. So I start looking and I have ended up installing the following with no luck getting the movies to work:
-DivX video for Mac
-VLC for Mac
-DivX Converter
I'm kind of at my wits end with this. I've looked all of the internet no luck, but would really enjoy watching movies. So can anyone help me? (Downloaded the DivX from the DivX site and VLC from the VLC site).

Those are our usertitles, and they're (in general) based on Apple processors of yore.

Not sure but the store might be able to help. Is this the flag ship store?
He could also use Twitter for iPhone to upload pics and use that for updating. Seems the simplest.

Just thought I'd add - I've repaired permissions twice, but it's still the same. Although I did get a slightly faster bootup and appl launches etc., but the glitching is still there

I was planning to go to Macline on Friday evening... Do you know if they organize something special?
As far as i know they'll be starting to sell leopard at 18:00h, without any further shebang. There should be some combo promo's however, maybe to clear some shuffle stock.

Well the 30 minute battery life wouldn't do for me, especially without the option to have extra battery packs. I'm considering buying a spare Flip while I still can.

Thanks!
This pic rocks. You have my vote. The simplicity of it is what sells it for me. (Plus the DJ-esque hands moving, like you're doing some scratching on the notebooks or something.)

PowerMacs G5 for climate simulation needed
The destruction of New Orleans by hurricane has shown the importance of climate for life on our planet. The distributed-computing-project "www.climateprediction.net" tries to explore our climate and its changes in the near future.
Sulphates act to scatter solar radiation and reduce the amount of solar energy reaching the surface. The reduction in solar radiation cools the surface and reduces the warming effect caused by greenhouse gases. So, a prediction of the climate in the 21st century needs to contain the effects of sulphate aerosol. Otherwise the warming trend may be overestimated. This is called the 'global dimming' effect. Therefore the Oxford university in Great Britain created a special "sulphur cycle experiment" within the "climateprediction"-project.
From this experiment it is hoped that scientists will be able to better understand the range of uncertainty in climate models due to the parameters in the sulphur cycle. This information will then be used in the following experiments of climateprediction.net.
The project has just released a special MacOSX-client for the "sulphur cycle experiment", which is very crunch-intensive and needs powerful Macs in order to be completed successfully. On a P4 3.0 in Linux, running stand-alone, one Sulphur Cycle Model requires approximately 39 days (@24/7). Therefore exspect an uptime of 35 up to 60 days for a PowerMac G5 to complete just one Sulphur cycle model. Moreover you will need a quick internet connection to do the upload and download of project files.
Exspect about one gigabyte datas to be downloaded on your harddisk during the whole run and about 20 megabytes datas which have to be uploaded. The datas of the experiment will need up to three gigabytes volume on your harddisk.
This is only a job for powerusers who want to demonstrate the power of the most modern Apple technology and their real interest in the future of mankind.

I had a friend use my SB800 on his Canon, I don't think all of the features worked, but in manual mode it worked fine.
