A quick Google search revealed this product (http://www.budgetgadgets.com/mini-stereo-speaker-ipodiphone-p-5973.html)and other similar products at BudgetGadgets.com for less than $10. My guess is that other online electronics retailers may have these products; I've never done business with BudgetGadgets, so proceed carefully.
The speaker assembly for the linked product is about the width of an iPod touch, so it's a little wider than your 6th gen nano. It plugs into the 30-pin Dock connector and draws power from the nano's internal battery to amplify the speakers, so it doesn't need any additional batteries and can probably get a little louder than non-powered speakers plugged directly into the headphone jack (which just doesn't have the power to drive more than earbuds without additional amplification).
However, since it draws power from the iPod's battery, your iPod's battery life will be significantly reduced, possibly by half. There is a mini-USB jack on the speaker unit which, when connected to a USB port on a computer or USB wall charger unit, will power the speakers and recharge the nano via a pass-through circuit. (My Griffin iTrip FM transmitter has a similar function.)
If I were reading, I'd just put on headphones or earbuds myself. Nevertheless, products like this are OK for occasional use, especially for letting a friend or two hear a song.

I was charging my 1 week old iPod Touch 4g, and when I slid to unlock, the icons were wiggling, I slide over the the page with a few apps and all the downloaded apps have an 'X' on them and won't respond when I tap them.
I up'd the volume to see if there was any sound, none.
I powered down and back up, it went back to normal.
What was this, some kinda virus?
Apps downloaded (all free versions):
Unblock meFree
Mirror
angry birds
FallDown!
NightVision
I have no wifi, these were from iTunes.
Ver 4.3.2
Any ideas?

Hi Guys,
I have just purchased a mac mini. 1.42ghz g4. It is old but factory sealed. In the box was a vga to dvi adapter. I bought a vga to vga cable and proceeded to connect this to my samsung lcd tv. The white screen comes up and the circular thingy spins for a bit, and the Apple start up sound happens. Then the only thing that happens is a small bit of writing that writes mode not supported! Please can someone help...

im on a mac. Im Exporting to normal quicktime export on Final Cut Express. the footage doesnt match the Canvas as its playing different parts of the clip than whats on the timeline. I watch the time line back and all of the clips are how i want them . when exported some parts show different clips rather than what i have selected.
Working with Dv Pal 720 x 576 at 29.97 frames per second. i think it maybe that was exporting at 24 fps. going to try again at 29.97 now

Yeah, you only need one. :)
Doing it with two would require some sort of adaptor or something to be able to plug the second external (third in total) display into AFAIK. I'm not sure that it's possible but I could be wrong.
I see. Thanks for the info. I was hoping all I need is one external monitor, so that works great.

Any Mac can be used as a server for this. You don't need the server OS, Lion server or Snow Leopard Server for that matter.
To ask yourself if you need the server version, read the description of Lion and Snow Leopard server services. If you don't need any of them then you don't need the server version.
Consider a NAS to be a computer with more than the usual number of disk drive slots that can only be used as a file server (some times additional services, depending on the NAS). If it does the job, you'll save money, but it won't be as flexible.
My Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server story is here: http://almy.us/server.html

AFP reports (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5iPv4adjeagiDv59ZBv5Cu7kyF8uw) that China Mobile, the largest mobile phone provider in China, is continuing to work with Apple on bringing the iPhone to the carrier's network."We really are still in talks with Apple...In our negotiations in the past, we insisted on sticking to our conditions," company chairman Wang Jianzhou told reporters on the sidelines of a regional mobile phone conference in Hong Kong.
"We are still very sincere about completing this negotiation."China Mobile has been in discussions with Apple regarding the iPhone for quite some time, but a number of roadblocks (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/02/09/details-of-iphone-negotiations-between-apple-and-china-mobile-emerge/) have prevented the companies from striking a deal and allowed China Unicom to become the first carrier (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/10/30/iphone-launches-today-in-china/) to offer the iPhone there.
Despite the setbacks and reports of slow sales (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/11/03/china-unicom-reports-only-5000-new-iphone-users-since-launch/) for China Unicom, China Mobile apparently remains committed to landing the iPhone, having reiterated (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2009/09/14/china-mobile-chairman-confirms-ongoing-iphone-talks/) its interest several times in recent months.

I read about some new F@H developments this morning on slashdot.
PS3 (http://folding.stanford.edu/news.html)
"...we will likely be able to attain performance on the 100 gigaflop scale per computer. With about 10,000 such machines, we would be able to achieve performance on the petaflop scale." screenshot (http://folding.stanford.edu/abeta-PS3.jpg) video (http://folding.stanford.edu/abeta_2spu_test02.avi)
ATI GPU (http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-ATI.html)
"We are beta testing the ATI GPU client software internally at the moment and will likely announce an open beta in four to five weeks (end of September)."
"Which GPUs will be supported? We have not made any final decisions on this issue. However, our software will likely require the very latest GPUs from ATI (especially now that the newest ATI GPUs support 32 bit floating point operations). Previous work of ours used NVIDIA GPUs as well, but we have now concentrated on ATI GPU's as they allow for significant performance increases for FAH over NVIDIA's GPU's (at least at the current generation). Our GPU cluster has 25 1900XT's and 25 1900 XTX's. We find a considerable performance increase of 1900XT's even over 1800XT's, due to the architectural differences between the R580 and R520 GPU's. Our code will run on R520's, but considerably more slowly than R580. We're very much looking forward to trying out R600's."
Intel on Mac (http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=14182&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75)
"Coming soon.... 2-3 weeks...
(typed from the intel mac devel box)
p.s. the v6 client won't be as elaborate as planned, but it will be universal. v7 will have all the goodies."

Your questions pop up frequently in this forum. Search some previous threads on where and how to get started. Yes, you can make money as an indie developer but it has to become a full time job. As for iAd, it all depends on the popularity of your app.

According to Mactracker, max RAM for the Quicksilvers is 1.5 GB.
And yes, the Sawtooth can hold 2 GB under OS X.

So apparently Apple has put out a new version of software for the 6th gen nano.
Sweet, it has capabilities for me to manually tell the Nano to shut off.
I tell it to go ahead and update. It gives me an error saying I do not have permissions and links me to a page that doesn't even list that error. I'm using a 2010 MBP 13" base model if that makes any difference (running Snow Leopard).
I update itunes just in case it is that, still same error.
Why won't it update and what can I do to fix that?

Why not print on a larger sheet, include bleeds and trim it down?
Then your nearly borderless presentation will be truly borderless.
Those uneven borders can be so vexing.

Hello Macheads,
So I bought a new mac mini about a year ago, I kinda regret purchasing it because i never use it I primalry use my laptop. So I was thinking about turing the mac mini into a small server. So my question is.... Is the mac mini suitable as a small server to say host a web site, or be a small file server, and is it suitable to be turned on 24/7 365 a year?

I just purchased a refurbished 2010 mac mini server and got it up and running only to find that I cant bring my files over from the time machine backup that I had for my old macbook pro. It looks like SLS does not support this. Is there anything I can do to get my music, photos etc from the time machine backup on my usb drive to the server?
I originally wanted to just install SL client instead of server but could not get that to work. When I booted from the SL retail 10.6.3 disk that I bought, the apple would change to a "no entry" logo and do nothing.
I figure if I can at least get my files from time machine onto the mini, I can live with it for now. I would assume that when lion comes out, it will allow me to install it and access my time machine backups. That's a lot to assume!
Any help will be greatly appreciated! :D
