thanks guys
it's amazing how quickly things change
just got this imac in aug 2010
and already the connection ports are becoming outdated
truth be told, FW800 is more than adequate
it's a psychological thing
wanting the latest and greatest

You can buy 'em contract free @ AT&T store or at the apple store.
It'll still be locked to AT&T. If you are gonna spend $700 on a contract free iphone, why not dish out an extra $300 and just get a factory unlocked iPhone on eBay . . .it'll work w/ any carrier and you dont have to woirrya bout it getting locked after you upgrade the firmware

I remember finding that the legend tag is very hard to do extensive styling on, and get cross-browser compatibility. I ended up giving up on whatever fanciness that I had been trying. The browsers simply implemented the specifics of how styles effect the legend tag very differently. It's one case where I find it OK to go slightly off semantic HTML if you really want a specific look.

256 MBs of RAM costs 18 dollars, 512 costs 60.
If I could find some used RAM cheap maybe from here, I would buy it. :D
THIS (http://www.oempcworld.com/OEMPCworld-com/256M-AP133.html) would get you 512Mb for $24

Motion just eats up your GPU. If you're doing heavy video editing, or even remotely serious, 15" is worth it.

We do not plan to have this functionality right of the gate as we don't know how car insurance companies will feel about it just yet. However, it is definitely something we would like to implement if they feel it's safe enough to still qualify people for the discount. It would not be hard to update.

I've been there. It's pretty neat. I am fairly sure when I went (in 2009) they sold iPods, Mac Minis and AppleTV.

So I have a linksys E3000 dual band. I have had countless problems running N on the 5 ghz band. I am running one side only (2.4 Mixed). I have a new mac mini (n) , macbook (g) , macbook pro (n) , G5 tower (wired) , iMac 17 (g) , xbox 360 (g) , atv2 (n) , ipad (n) , iphone 4 (n) , iphone 3g (g) , 2 ipodt4g (?). The router is putting out a good signal everywhere in the house. I am only getting about 1MB/S transfer between my Macbook Pro and my Mini. Any ideas. I bought a new router just a few days ago. I was getting the exact transfer speeds on the old g router running dd wrt . Any ideas? I have searched, and found everyone's situation is different. I would love to use the 5 ghz band, but I seem to have a lot of problems. Oh, I am running WPA2 for security. Thanks in advance.

I think there is a setting to determine how much CPU you want F@H to use 0-100%. At 100%, things start cooking.
I would never fold on a laptop in the first place, the heat and the fans just scare me.

Major problem with Extensis Suitcase...
Everything was fine until this morning when Suitcase (10.1.3) seemed to stop working. So I removed the app and all the files I could find in both system folders (X 10.2.6 & Classic) after doing all the routine rule out stuff. I then downloaded the latest version of Suitcase 10.2.2
The following error message comes when trying to install both ES 10.1.3 & 10.2.2
"This installation requires a System Folder on the destination drive. The installation has been cancelled.
1008:1,-43 File not Found"
WHAT IS THIS FILE???
The only way I could get anything was to set the installer to run under classic via get info,
Suitcase looks like it has Installed but when launched...
New set clicked then folder named .... Suitcase hangs
Select a set ... Suitcase hangs
or ... Suitcase just hangs
Another thing... if I click on a link in internet explorer to download a file nothing happens, I must "download link to disk" I have even got a warning stating that there is not enough space on my HD... HaHa I think not matey coz I got 34GB free you see... perhaps related?
I have run disk utility, tested the permissions, that didn't solve anything, booted up from my CD tested the disk, disk was fine, ran a hardware test again fine.
Arrrrrgggggg anybody got any ideas.

I've been scouring different sites to get an answer to this dilema... Alas none BUT I found this on version tracker under font Reserve.... So... is it really Suitcase???
Four things in common
1. PowerBook G4
2. System 10.2.6
3. Very similar (if not the same) error message with an installer.
4. Both problems with Font software, perhaps coincidence.
Font Reserve Posting - "Just like with the last Updater, when I try to install version 3.1.2 the installer tells me that there is no System folder on my computer. Which there is! I have a PowerBook G4 with System 10.2.6. What to do? "

Kind of OT, but I still find it ironic that at the time Windows was moving away from DOS toward a graphic user interface (that the Mac had for years), OS X introduced a command prompt via Unix.

I have a terrible feeling that something is really wrong with my MacBook Pro. It wouldn't turn on a few days ago. It would try to power up (I could hear the fans moving) but a few seconds later it would turn off (the led indicator on the front was still flashing so it wasn't completely off). At first I thought it had no battery (even though the indicator on the side said it was full) so I plugged it in. Nothing changed. Eventually, it turned on enough to bring up my login page except the screen was kind of greyed out and it had a loading/resume bar (the same thing that normally happens when the battery goes and it resumes where you previously left off).
Every time I tried to type in my password, it would literally take about 30 seconds to register my key strokes (there was a constant spinning beach ball). After that, it turned off again. Eventually I left it alone and when I came back to it that evening, it was working perfectly.
Is my battery screwed? Could it be my ram due to the constant spinning beach ball? I've noticed a huge performance slow down in the last few weeks.
It's a late 2009 MBP 13".

No, don't bother. Safari is in some ways implicitly expected to always be available from an OS perspective. Removing it is incredibly counter intuitive. You gain a smidgen of space and open yourself up to running into a heap of trouble down the line.
If your computer literacy is at a level where you can't find out what files actually do then you should not remove anything other than your own generated content.

I am curious about the Kingston "bargain" drives too, especially their performance or lack of it, over time as the drive is used.
