I won an iPod Shuffle through a penny auction, and despite that it was supposed to be a black third-generation, I got sent a blue current-generation (I wouldn't complain about the upgrade). However I'm not a big fan of the blue color, though the finish is really nice. Which stores would likely let me exchange this blue iPod Shuffle for a silver iPod Shuffle without a receipt? Its really not a big deal for a store to exchange colors since they all have the exact same value. I wanted to try Best Buy, but I don't think they would do the exchange due to their fairly strict item scans. Ideas?

FCP reported that it could't export MPEG2 cos DVDSP wasn't authorised the other day, I launched DVDSP and the problem vanished.
Are you using the MPEG componant for OSX or the one that gets installed with DVDSP?
I think the update is for the stand alone componant.
Just a thought, why don't you use Cleaner 6, it renders MPEG2 much better than QT but is slower (and more expensive)

Thanks for your reply. I got it figured out (and you were right). I didn't realize the 'burn" needed to be done through Disk Utility (I simply right clicked on the file and selected burn the first time). The next problem I faced was a black screen on install. I have a Late 2009 iMac and evidently this was a common problem. A pain, but I found the solution on Apples's support pages.
One last issue. I understand that there should be a bootcamp control panel on the task bar when I am in Windows that would allow me to switch to booting back to my Mac, but it's not there. I am in search of a solution. Any thoughts?

Hey - I downloaded one client 6.24.1, installed it and tried to open it via the application icon in the applications folder but it said it wouldn't work on my machine. I don't really want to go the terminal route. BUT, I went to system preferences and looked in the Other section and there was a Folding icon so I entered a user name and the MR team number and clicked the button. So, is it working? How do I tell?

Xbox's new 512 Memory Card was suppose to be loaded with that game.
I think that is what you heard.

why not just keep the iBook, sell the eMac and buy a new desktop...
Cuz basically my ideal setup would be a higher end desktop and a lower end laptop and the eMac is too lowend, so if I sell it I would need to add a significant chunk of cash for a new desktop.

I Have a white MacBook with the old touchpad. For full screen apps you need 3 finger swipes so that can't be done. Instead I use ctl and arrow keys to switch between full screen apps (like switching spaces in 10.6).
Launchpad uses 2 finger gestures to change pages and works well on my trackpad.
For mission control, you can use 2 finger swipe up to separate grouped windows.
By 2 finger swiping up on a dock icon, this activates expose for that app. Swipe down to deactivate.
Also, in DP2 there is now an option in the trackpad preferences to reverse the scrolling behaviour. This was not in dp1 for older trackpads.
Through a combination of screen corners and keyboard shortcuts I think you can get a similar experience to multitouch trackpad.

Hey guys. I've been trying to install windows 7 on my late 2008 unibody MBP for a long time now and am finally deciding to seek help. I took out my optical drive in order to put in a solid state drive, so I'm left bootcamping from a USB superdrive.
When I run the bootcamp assistant to attempt to boot from the external dvdrom I get the error: "BOOTMGR is missing or corrupt. System cannot boot."
I've tried the rEFIt route to boot a bootable USB copy of windows (which I made on a windows machine) and rEFIt lets me see the drive, but right when I try to boot from it and the white windows logo appears, the screen goes black almost instantly. barely catch a glimpse of the white windows EFI boot logo.
My OS X install is separated over two drives (i.e. Home folder on one drive and system files/applications on the solid state drive). Not sure if this has something to do with it? Maybe there is some files necessary for the boot that are on one of the drives?
Anyway. This is extremely aggravating and if anyone can help I will be extremely grateful.

I would love nothing more than to do that, but finding academic resources is apparently required for this assignment. I'm not having any luck on the abstract/index search. Maybe I am just usuing the wrong keywords.
Anything that could possibly be construed as legitimate and academic would be sooo appreciated.

I just use iPhoto. You don't have to get them printed at a lab. You can print them on your own printer.

I have a bunch of discs that have come with magazines and stuff that I don't want. The magazine discs all have loads of software on them. Demos, shareware, freeware, mods. If you are looking for a certain piece of software please post here and I will see if I have it on a disc. Please keep in mind some of this stuff is not registered, it's just demos that you can get online. If you have a slow connection and want to download, say, a Photoshop CS2 trial, buying a disc with it from me would be much easier. Also on the magazine discs are reviews, videos, and tutorials. I will sell one for $1 shipped and 3 for $2 shipped. If you'd like to buy more than three, PM me and I will give you a special deal. They will be sent in small padded envelopes via USPS.

Any idea how much one of these could go for now?
Boxed with accessories etc. Had invisible-shield like film on front and back, so very good condition.

Why not ask your son?
Maybe it is going to be a surprise
I think the high end 15" would be ideal if it needs to be portable, otherwise the 17" for that extra screen when editing HD movies.

All,
I recently started to teach myself how to develop iOS applications and recognized that once I am able to write my own apps, I'm not sure how I'll be able to add nice graphics, sounds etc., since that is not my area of expertise.
So I made this site...
http://www.iosdevexchange.com
...to help iOS developers connect with graphic/sound/video experts and vice versa.
In my mind it'll be people posting freelance type ads that they are (for example) a graphic designer and looking for apps to make logos for, or a developer looking for a sound expert to help them create great sound effects/music for their app.
What do you all think? Useful? Any thoughts on how to drum up interest or features to add/remove?
Thanks for your input!

Hey, sorry if this is in the worng section, I wasn't quite sure where to post it.
I have a USB turntable/vinyl archiver however, I would like to be able to plug it into speakers and use it as a normal record player. Is that possible?
Many thanks :)

Interesting...so is the OWC really faster as they claim?
OWC is the only real after-market choice if you want to increase the SSD size but at $550ish for 240 GB, seems rather expensive.
It is faster when I ran comparable benchmarking. But so far for real world regular usage I haven't noticed a difference. It was definitely expensive for my 240GB version, but I couldn't afford the Ultimate 13 when I placed my order so this was my only option to upgrade. You should also factor in you can sell your old SSD, a 128GB Toshiba went for nearly 200 yesterday on ebay.

Not likely going to happen. Ethernet based hardware is quite a bit harder to design then USB hardware; and then the software on top of it is a bit more of a pain in the butt. Thus if they have no plans, it isn't going to happen. See if you can find any good ethernet scanners; then see if any of those have mac support.
EDIT : Epson GT-15000 Scanner seems to support OSX
