Intel SSDs seem to get much better reliability scores/feedback than the OWC, I wasn't sure which to go for in my Mini, but in the end I went Intel for this reason.
I'm sure either are fine, but the experts reckon on Intel.

With all respect...if you are having to ask what to do with a DMG, do you really think you should be installing OSX server?
Exactly. OP is not the target audience of OS X server.

Your setup is fine.You only need to add an addtional step:
1.In yr external HDD create a directory DCIM.... For test purposes, add some photos in there
2. Create another folder /DCIM/100VIDEO if you wish to transfer videos to your iPad. For test puposes add a mov or avi or mp4 inside
3. I assume your term "self-powered USB.." means it has an external power source to run yr external HDD
4. Fire up yr iPad..camera roll will auto detect yr photos & videos followed by a prompt if you would like to import same to yr iPad.
You can also see yr ext HDD mounted in iFile...there you can copy paste... ie invoices pdfs to the appropriate folder etc

You can't.
Bummer, I found a far less elegant work around that sadly involved booting into Windows 7. Usually OS X is the tool for the job, but I was having Flash issues with my webcam in Safari, Firefox and Chrome, but it worked fine in Firefox in Windows 7.

Hey
Yes were using AFP and no were using the POSIX on OSX on the volumes
but once your in the share points permissions there mixed both with ACL and POSIX could this be an issue?
(not sure if this helps) also we have to main groups and both users that are having the issue are in both groups "group a" is under ACL and "group b" is under POSIX could they be conflicting in any way? and all permissions are read and write
hope this helps!?

Downgrades are not possible normally. The only way to downgrade is to restore to the base version of the OS you wish to downgrade to (or whatever came with your Mac if you haven't upgraded since you bought it), then update to the desired minor version of that OS. Keep in mind that you can't downgrade to anything older than what your Mac came with.
I'd try Sun Baked's suggestions before mine, though.

I have a 2010 Mac Pro 6-Core 3.33Mhz with 12GB ram (3x4GB sticks) and 4x2TB Western Digital Black Caviar internals).
What I purchased this system in 09/2010. After taking out the 2gb of Apple memory and adding in the 12gb from OWC, and adding in my internal hd`s, I was up and ready to go.
I have no issue with the computer - except for one.
The computer powers up an normal speed to the sign in screen, and after inputting password, goes to the desktop. This is where one of two things happens rather frequently.
Half the time, the desktop loads 100% with no issue and when I click on the finder, the new finder window opens, showing me all the drives in my Mac Pro. If I click on one, in order to show me what is inside each drive (the folders and files) - the beachball appears and often times in spins for a minute or two before showing the contents of that drive.
The other half of the time, the desktop loads slowly and then the beachball appears and keeps on spinning and freezes the system and I have to hold the power button to power down the system.
I have a way fast system (on paper). I am not running anything heavier than Photoshop on my computer. I have more than enough memory. And my drives are ALL virtually empty. And this problem is happening upon just starting the computer at the desktop level, so it`s not like I am running 5 programs at the same time or anything taxing to the system.
I have sent the computer out to Apple for a lookover. Just wondering what could be causing this issue. Desktop either loads fine or it doesn`t. And when it doesn`t, the damn beachball.
I notice when I repair the disk permissions, it acts as a bandaid for this problem, but only for the first few start-ups, then back to same issue.
I feel like for what I do with this system, and the guts of my system, it should be lightening fast.
Any thoughts as to what it could be? Just curious as I wait for Apple to tell me the news.

Good work!
Here's some all important functions i've come accross in my own RSS creation:
// convert timestamp to ISO8601 formatted date
function iso8601_date($time){
$tzd = date('O',$time);
$tzd = substr(chunk_split($tzd, 3, ':'),0,6);
$date = date('Y-m-d\TH:i:s', $time) . $tzd;
return $date;
}
// convert special chars to UTF-8 valid entities
function strictify ( $string ) {
$fixed = htmlspecialchars( $string, ENT_QUOTES );
$trans_array = array();
for ($i=127; $i<255; $i++) {
$trans_array[chr($i)] = "&#" . $i . ";";
}
$really_fixed = strtr($fixed, $trans_array);
return $really_fixed;
}

Hello...
I am currently using Outlook 2011 on my 2010 MBA 11" (pop account) - today I ordered a new 2011 iMac which will become my main work machine for email, but I will still need to use the MBA for emails when away from the office/travelling etc.
How can I use both machines and keep Outlook 2011 synced i.e. Inbox, sent items on both machines?
Tks

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro.
My drive sometimes won't read discs, I've used it so much. I want to buy a new drive. My question is, do I get a blu ray drive(not BR burner) or get a regular DVD burner, like a superdrive.
The price difference seems to be about $40-$50. What benefit is there to having a blu ray drive. I don't think I'll ever watch a br movie from there. And I dont think I'll want to rip BRs either
Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks

You can either replace the internal hard drive, but that's quite difficult. Or you could simply buy an external hard drive. You can get 2tb for under 100 now.

1. Open Disk Utility
2. Select your hard drive from the left-hand-side column (NOTE: It's not the Macintosh HD but the one above it)
3. Click the Partition tab
4. Click the + icon
5. Give a name to the new partition
6. Use Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as format
7. Define its size
8. Click Apply
Then open the Lion disk image and start installing it to the new partition you just created. No data should be erased.

Sorry if the title is a little awkward.
Pretty much want to know if there is a website that has a ton of "640k should be enough for anyone"-esque quotes. Maybe like old articles that had journalists writing new technology throughout history.
I just think it would be funny as it's always interesting to look back on what we thought was cutting edge 5, 10,or 20 years ago.

I don't know much about AppleScript, but why escape from AppleScript into the shell just to enter AppleScript again.
Is the above not the equivalent of:
version of application "Application"
Would you look at that. You got it. And yea I knew the code I put didn't make any sense for some reason. Im pretty tired at this point...
