And to make matters worse, this jerk married a Mexican woman. He is alway behind Mexico and Mexicans for some reason. Imagine that, he lives in NJ, has a several acre house, makes 7/8 figure salary and then teaches American middle class a lesson to avoid goods produced in China/Mexico/India. Avoid them because they add up to trade deficit of USA, avoid them because those countries have stolen jobs from middle class Americans. Why doesn't Lou Dobbs stop using software written by some Indian/Chinesse guy? Why doesn't he stop eating at a place where in the kitchen a Mexican guy is making his meal? why doesn't he stop using Japnesse cars? Why doesn't he quit eating Pizza....afterall it is Italian food? Why doesn't he stop driving on interstate highways...part of those were made by African Americans. I am asking Lou Dobbs to show me his grand father's VISA/I-94 when he came to the USA, on a ship, half starved, half naked from some european country and never went back! This guy blames mexicans/legal or immigrations for this country's broken health care system. Other day, he was concerned that in California, especially L.A. and surrounding area, white people's percentage has gone below 50%, Mexicans and Indians are having too many kids, whites are not having enough kids.........this is by far the most racist program CNN runs and we need to do something to put a stop on it.

You have to be kidding! Here people are crying to get there EAD's extended and you think the Govt will give us citizenship???
Please i suggest everyone to wake up and smell the coffee/chai.
If you think giving us citizenship will be easy becoz it will prop up their vote bank think again coz it will never happen. Imagine the headlines which says recession time 10M americans out of job, foreign workers to get citizenship LMAO!
Forget this ever happening in a recession time and not much of a chance in the boom time either, see how the Anti-Immi's will eat everyone up for this ridiculous suggestion, please remember we're nothing in the larger scheme of things for the decision making people, we need to understand our limitation and strengths and play by them, IV does a decent job of that.

When the point is raised that people have been living here legally, paying taxes, SS, owning houses etc etc for 10 years!! what more is actually needed for citizenship?? The idea is to highlight that legal residents (many of them) have been here for ever!! 10 years is almost 15% of an average life span!! If only this thing is highlighted in some strong news papers. Isn't this protectionism at its worst. US is complaining about labor laws in China???? What the heck is this here??? You should just fill a dispute form and send it to your credit card issuer. It's probably not too late. The bank can and should refund you the overpay.

Let us all send AC21 action item mails to USCIS. Let us send some more through our spouses and teenage children. Also get some more signed by our friends and neighbors.
The letters are very generic. They can be sent by anyone including GC holders and citizens too. All it costs is a few Dollars! So what are you waiting for you? If you have hired a nanny, make her send one too :)

I think it is because of cross chargeability. If your spouse's country of birth is not India then you can get charged to your spouses birth country. And therefore can apply for 485 when your spouse's PD is current even when your PD is not current.

very interesting thread ..it is more interesting than the other famous thread "how to get your maid to USA" ..no wonder some senior core members are disappointed because no one cares about other threads which talk about recapture and other campaigns.
the only point about renting the house is that it has many pitfalls too ...one of my friends tried that and he is a full time businessman ...problem is many people stop paying rent after 4-5 months ...it happened in his case plus the tenant painted the house in red and green colors.. In US it is not very easy to evict the tenant ..you have to go to court etc etc (so it is sort of full time job).
on top of it ..how do you make sure that 3-4 families are not staying in the house ...i.e. u rent it to 1 person and that person reduces his rent by renting it to 2-3 families ,... these few points are the problems that you face by renting

Just my 2 cents... Don't think USA is like India where you can do something forcefully. Why don't you guys understand the real problem of USCIS.
Do you think that by sending flower to USCIS will force them to make EB2/EB3 current for 2005/2006/2007 guys??
Please try to understand their problem.
Also India is the great. Why don't you guys just think that India is your home country where you are born and brought up. Why you people can't just wait and watch?? If nothing happens to the so called GC, then why don't you think to pack up and go back to India???????
My sincere request, please don't do rally, you might be arrested......you never know what they can do..... Don't you think that, it is better to go back to India rather than being embarrassed here in US???

I finally get the chance to share our wonderful news with you all. We (me and my wife) received our "Welcome new resident" e-mails this morning.
11 yrs for me and 12 yrs for my wife since coming to the USA. Between the two of us, Three J1s and Two F1 stamps, Six H1b stamps, Four 140s, 10 EAD/AP (5 each), 3 finger print notices apiece, Four RFEs between us and a total of $68KUSD in total USCIS fees/Lawyer fees and countless gray hair later and after many an emotional roller coaster over the years, it was our turn today.
For those of you unclear about the admittedly weird above numbers, take a look at my RD. It is not a typo! I often wondered if I was a lone Dinosaur that survived the meteorite. I never saw anyone with a 4 plus year 485 recently.
Our 485s were 2 yrs old and approvable when the visa bulletin fiasco happened in summer 2007. Ironically I heard that even my FPs/Background check were cleared by then (which in those days was the main cause of delays).
I made many approaches over the years to the USCIS via phone, email, and fax, My Congressman contacted them on multiple occasions (atleast 3 times when he forwarded their response to me), and our Senator contacted them once. My lawyer as well as my employer contacted them also. I finally also wrote the ombudsman 2 weeks ago. I was pretty scathing in that letter as well (about their mockery of their stated FIFO policy etc). I am not sure exactly what worked, or if anything at all did, and it was just my time. After a while dealing with the injustice, you just get numb. Today finally I breathe a deep sigh of relief. The loooooong wait is over.
I've spent so long waiting I even get nostalgic about the early days. I remember very well, blogging one cold December night on Immigrationportal with Wallenpond, Pdakwala, Superman,Khodalmd and many other early IV luminaries in 2005 putting up a rearguard uncoordinated effort, when Rep. Sensenbrenner scuttled our visa recapture chances in conference committee. Following which IV was born with leadership from folks well known to us now. IV is your organisation and platform. It will only be as strong as you let it be.
I wish each of you all the best of luck and least agony in your wait. Those of you current, have faith, if you are being wronged, Stand up. Write/meet with those in a position to do something. Advocate for yourself. That way, atleast they know, what is going on. Otherwise none can help you.
I will continue to stick around here and do what I can to help with IVs efforts. I believe with our overall effort, we are helping ourselves yes, but what we are advocating for is correct for this country as well.

I am in also facing the same situation...My employer says, the attorney clubbed some applications into one box and sent it, and donot know which box my application is, hence no fed ex number. Hopefully it should he been reached by july 2nd...No Receipts No Checks cleared...waiting for Sept 30 to call USCIS (after 90 days of filing)...most probably my application would have received by R.MICKELS, Delivery date: Jul 2, 2007 9:01 AM. I have got a list of tracking numbers from the attorney, only this tracking number details shows 4 lbs...hence thinking that my application is clubbed in this one. This was sent to Nebraska service center, My I-140 approved from Texas on June 25th. CAdude, Can you add my details onto the list. The compiled list show the time stamps are very close....

I am surprised to see this thread active this long. Earlier I have with help of Saralayar and other members have bring this point to attention. But at that time no one was supporting Idea.
I see increasing support for the Idea as GC journey become longer and longer.
Earlier I have pointed following points that I want to bring to remind if we want to get real support for this idea of early CITIZENSHIP AFTER GREEN CARD
(1) I-140 and I-485 must be approved.
(@) Time should be considered only after getting GC
(3) For getting closer for political support our proposal should be close to Existing laws for FAMILY BASED and MARRIAGE BASED CITIZENSHIPS
So we should argur that if YOU HAVE MASTER AND ABOVE IN STEM FILEDS YOu can get CITIZEN SHIP 5 yrs from date of Approval of I-140 ( which make it closer to fmaily based) and THREE YEARS from Date of Approval of I-485 (closer to marriage based citizens). You can get earlier of two . But when you get Citizenship your I-485 must be approved for ATLEAST 1 year.
The above requirements can get closer to Marriage and family based and also help 90% of IV members.
Adding the clause for the EDUCATIONAL THING might be able to get more political support also
