Ooops, yeah, late 2009. My bad.
So the speed improvements are mostly theoretical for my average use, but in the end I guess we all love the feeling of a brand new iMac …

well... i have to imagine that the old orchard lines were similiar to the northbrook iphone lines which were VERY long. and yup i live in northbrook.. why not northbrook court apple store you ask? friend is pissed at em for not servicing his ex-bricked iphone  ... so we'll be heading just a few miles south to skokie. and at 5-6ish, theres still people shopping, not just people eating at the food court (plus its a friday).

Too bad for Apple fans and Wi Gear.
It would be nice to see some solid Bluetooth headphones and headsets in the Apple line-up.
I wonder if Wi Gear will see a sales bump due to the publicity?

Just thought this was an interesting/ fun story.
From the NYT article (http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/20/a-wallet-lost-40-years-ago-now-is-found/?hp):
When Mr. Resta went to fetch his jacket at lunchtime on that long-ago day, the wallet was gone. He wasnt to see it again for 40 years. The reunion was made possible by Jos Cisneros, 46, a security guard who works in the former Times building, now called the Times Square Building. He came across the wallet last fall when he was investigating a void between an old unused window on the second floor and the masonry seal behind it. The wallet had apparently been stashed there after a thief found it in the coat closet and pulled out the cash.
Here's what Mr. Cisneros did. Recognizing that the wallet would surely have value to someone, he turned it over to Rafael Rodriguez, 38, the fire safety director at the Times Square Building. Because the wallet held several pieces of Times-related identification including Mr. Restas membership card in The New York Times Employees Blood Bank the two knew immediately that it had belonged to someone who had once worked in the building. This is very good, Mr. Rodriguez recalled saying to Mr. Cisneros. We could give it back to him or his family. That would be a fantastic satisfaction.

You know that 800k floppy drive with an Apple II?
How do I even use it?
My Apple IIGS boots/reads disks off the 5.25 drive.
How do I read floppies in the 800k?

Your Powerbook should have come with a hardware test CD. I would pop that in and give it a whirl. Should tell you if there's anything seriously wrong with your computer.
Cool, thanks alot! I'll give it a try. :)

Just checkin'?
I wanted to know about the word "misanthrope". is it a "pee" at the end or just like it's spelled "ope"? I'm pretty sure it's the later.

The question here is:
How many websites can a Mac Mini Server Serve before you start to run into issues?
A little bit more info:
I woud be running a MySql database with a Wordpress Multisite install to host 50 to 100 Blogs Max. I doubt that all of the blogs combined would get more than 15 - 20k hits per day serving up just wordpress sites, no audio/video.
To go with a Standard solution I would be looking at a Xeon W3530 (like a i7 930) with Cpanel and 6GB of Ram. That setup would run around $2000.
My thought was to get one Mac Mini Server for $999 and then I could always add a second if traffic picks up..
Input?

Irony: When playing Scrabble I always get stuck with a letter "Q" I can't use.
You could always turn it over and it becomes a "blank letter" with the ability to change into what ever letter you want. Of course that would be cheating but...

i'm not sure, but I think not, it's got a shorter, chunkier barrel than on the pic, and the cable comes out at 90 degrees.
I wish I'd seen that one, it's a real pain having to unplug to leave the thing on my desk...

FA: 4GB iPhone, unlocked, free case & screen protector
I bought this refurbished iPhone from AT&T in March. I had wanted a 2nd iPhone to jailbreak and unlock to see what all the fuss was about, but I still end up using my locked, un-jailbroken 8GB more often anyway (and I want the funds for the 3G iPhone and/or to help purchase a MacBook Air). So, the 4GB is up for auction with worldwide shipping to PayPal confirmed addresses only.
It is in excellent condition and I am including a free Incase Protective cover that has hardly been used, and an anti-glare screen protector (already installed on the iPhone). All accessories are included (OEM headphones, dock, USB cable, and AC adapter) and are unused and still factory-wrapped. It has been unlocked and jailbroken using ZiPhone. All content has been wiped, and no SIM card is provided.
eBay auction is here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290233692614), pics are attached. Full-resolution pics available upon request. 100% positive feedback on eBay, member since 2000.

Don't mean to be a pain, but google really is your friend. It will answer everyone of these questions. If you dont want to google it then just check the search on these fine forums and you will find the answers.

If you buy now, you most likely have to buy Lion at full price. If you wait till WWDC and buy after that, you may be eligible for up-to-date promo which means you can buy the upgrade for 10$ (assuming there will be more details on Lion in WWDC).

Whether is it thicker or not? Why does it matter?
Why are you panties in a wad over whether white or black is thicker..........?
Tech sites will go crazy and blow up anything that has to do with Apple for increased page views and ad revenue.
As for practical reasons why someone would actually care? Only case I even heard that could potentially be affected is the incase slider...

Just purchased one today and got it working. Pretty fast! Impressed! Now I want to use my Time Machine with it and when I tried, it communicated, and was running a clean up then said error 45. Not sure why or what I can do. Anyone have any pointers? I have a WD External 500gb HD attached to the USB of the Airport Extreme.

That's a song by the Beatles.
Could I play it through bookshelf speakers, connected to a receiver, connected to the Mac via usb 2.0 with the above device?
Yes. So long as the issue with your headphone jack isn't anything beyond the headphone jack.
That device, from the product description should do what you want it to do.
