I totally agree. Whenever I read news stories about Apple on Yahoo! Finance, I see comments that vilify Apple for being a "greedy corporation" that sent jobs to China. I'm getting sick and tired of those phony patriots who have the gall to call Apple a greedy corporation for manufacturing things in China to save money, even though those same people happily buy cheap goods without caring in the least if they're made in China or not.

Here's food for thought for all of them. Some of the best Android phones on market, like the HTC EVO 4G, is made in Taiwan. HTC is a Taiwanese company. Where's the vitriol for HTC? Where's the outpouring of patriotism, where they refuse to buy a product made in "repressive China?"

The difference being HTC is a Taiwanese company... Apple is an "American" company. You know, Designed in Cupertino...

I really like the idea of a 10th anniversary version of the classic. It is retro enough to represent the first model of the iPod, but is updated enough to hold gobs of music and video. A solid state model that retains the click wheel would be sweet! :D The touch is a great device, but for music, I still prefer a tactile interface. I have a 4G nano, but it only holds a part of my collection. If the drop the classic, I will grab one for sure.

    Single? There are multiple?

What about the laptops???? MBP's haven't been updated once and iMacs have been getting all the love. Count it!

Well, the iMacs haven't been updated once since they were released. This is the first update. The MBPs have been given speed bumps so I don't know what you are talking about. I'm sure the MBPs will be give C2D soon.

OH good lord what a crock of poo. How can Wal Mart threaten Hollywood studios? What will Wal Mart do, stop selling DVDs and hurt its own retail business? Silly.

I don't believe any of it.

This might be silly, but there is nothing particularly 'Apple' about that sign. Other than the beautiful white typeface against black canvas, of course. As people have pointed out, it isn't Myriad set. Why would Apple change their font for one banner? Do they do this regularly?

Isn't it possible that this sign belongs to another company showcasing software etc at Macworld? Doesn't Apple normally have some sort of branding on their banners?

Excuse the ignorance if I have no idea.

Anyone see the Magic Touchpad released without explanation? just wait.
    It's no Wacom Tablet

This was only a speed bump. I believe Apple will release Touch Macs (already Apple Inc.) as an additional product line along side standard Macs, to ease the transition.

There will always be keyboards, for keyboard shortcuts if not the obvious bulk text entry. Half the work done by pro-applications (not just Apple's) is done with keyboard shortcuts. It's the mouse that's done for. Apple finally perfect the mouse, and they kill it.

I think the Magic Mouse is transitory too. To get people used to using touch on the desktop.

Apologies...if it has already been discussed...I am at an airport, and dont have the time to scroll through all the pages before my flight departure:

Looks like a hoax to me anyway.....

lol good instinct. It is a hoax and it has been discussed... ad nauseum. Someone from here went and gave 9to5 a "tip" to see if he'd post it, and he did, so we know to discount everything that ever comes up on that website. Have a good flight.

Well said. I have to agree with you.

Most friends and relatives bring up the clock speed and price. But when they see how the machine looks on my desk, when they step up to OS X and take it for a spin, they see why I could take a speed "loss" for all the luxury that Apple brings to the user experience.

Now, a lot of us rumor-heads are focused on bleeding-edge. And it kinda burns us that Intel/Athlon chips are closing in on 3GHz and we've just broken 1 gig. But we (rumor-heads) are the few, and PC marketing no longer seems to focus on speed. And I believe that Apple is slowly turing more heads out there.

Maybe all these rumors of a "squashed iphone 5 mini" are really leaks of the next gen ipod classic? That type of form factor makes more sense considering the way things are headed. Touch screens and all.

How very strange. I can not believe a store that sells telephones, MP3 players, Digital Cameras, video games, eReaders, GPS devices, TVs, dvd players, Apple iPods, laptops, and tablets would carry the Apple iPad.

Very surprising. I bet next your going to try to tell me the Apple Store is going to carry them.

I realize it's unlikely Apple will release a Conroe minitower, but I definitely still see a place for it, and hey, one can always dream. :D

I asked a while back if Apple were likely to release a mini tower type machine and was quite surprised with the agreessivley negative replies some people gave all but calling me an idiot for asking for one. Some people just dont seem to get the fact there could quite easily be a machine that sits inbetween the mac mini and the mac pro even though the imac exists.

So you think that Adobe is bad because CS3 does not run on Snow Leopard?

    Think again.

CS3 has been published a long while ago, and Snow Leopard is brand new. A lot of system libraries have changed. I do not expect Windows 3.1 software to run correctly on Windows 7 either.

Are there any Mac developers out there?

    Whats your point here?
You state old software wouldn't run on a new OS yet you go off and rant in the rest of your post.

Apple must have caused software vendors to rewrite their software a gazillion times:

    - they switched from the 68K to the PowerPC to Intel

Software vendors writing their software gazillion times...please.

Apple made it easier for software vendors.
When going to intel from PPC,software vendors were freaking out that their software wouldn't run.Guess what,Apple came out with Rosetta. There was no problems

    - they switched from OS9 to Carbon to Cocoa
    - for Snow Leopard, if you want to run as a 64-bit app, you have to switch to the Cocoa libraries, and much of Carbon is deprecated.

Apples next OS will most likely drop Carbon altogether. I have written programs for the Mac for a long time now, and I have spent 75% of my productivity just rewriting my programs over and over again to adopt them to Apple's library changes.

Woah Carbon was for OS9 Developers

And with OS X,Apple has carbon and cocoa.
They had theses 2 API for such a long time, they should I just went to Cocoa years ago but no they stuck with 2 to help the software developers.
Besides Carbon is crap, only argument carbon developers used was
"Well the Finder.App was made in carbon so carbon is a better then cocoa"
    lol

Adobe is big, but I bet that many of their Mac programmers are busy just following Apple as they try to leave software vendors in the dust because they switch system libraries and CPUs at will.

Only thing here thats valid if the company develops in carbon.
And for Poor adobe thats the case.

Maybe at this point adobe CS5 can actually be we-written from scratch instead of adding extra code to a already horrible broken coded program which is what Adobe being doing for the past couple of years.

"hopefully"! im about ready to gouge my freaking eyes out from waiting. First it was wait for WWDC, then the next Tuesday, then the next, then the next...it just goes on forever! Not to mention all the stuff that is said on here. yes, i said it. this place is a place for Mac maniacs go to bonkers with rumor this and rumor that. And quite frankly...i love it!:p

None of those early "predictions" were from reliable sources, they were just people making a wish. PC laptops with merom are just starting to ship now, so the earliest they would come out would be next week. I think it will be a little after that. Also, the ipod promo ends the 16th, so it may be right after that.

    1. This is kind of scary - it's like Apple is saying whatever you decide you WILL get our products.

How about, "we want to invest in the US!"

    Sheeeez!

There should be a law that states anytime a US company chooses to manufacture something outside the US, the company must post a clearly-articulated-less-than-25-page document stating AND COMPARING why the US is unable to manufacture said product.

Sorry, but for me this story doesn't pass the sniff test.

Me neither. This is a weird story. I want to laugh along with it, but something doesn't ring true to me.

What if "wife said no" because "husband" spent all of his time with gadgets instead of the family? Apple sending it back (even if "free,") doesn't address the situation properly (or even politely.)
