Maybe we should all be tree hugging hippies?
Btw, you are lying in your OP, as you got your MBA quite a while ago. Why is that? Do you want to fraud something out of Apple? Do you need some bees to go along with the fruit cake?
I see the force is weak in this one...

I agree with you. I liked how I could look back and see where i've been. I think like antennagate, the issue was overblown.

You have to turn data off to avoid any data flow between the iPhone and the network.

People it just a header file. It does nothing in regards to behaviour. Perhaps on app-by-app basis you could patch NSWindow with a category. But if you wanted to change the behaviour of NSWindow system-wide you'd need to patch the library inside Cocoa.framework.

The drive is cheap, $60 CAD for the Pioneer 110D 16x DVD-R drive, and enclosures are around $40-50. The Lacie drive on the other hand is $140 CAD and only 8x.
They must give a different drive then  Mine burns at 16x and DL at 6x but hell that's a great price in Can. money for you ;)

Why on earth would an external hard drive speed up anything? If you need a ton of storage, a backup drive (say for Time Machine, extra music/videos/etc), or just want some insurance against hard drive failure, get an external drive.
But buying one and hooking it up to the Dell or a new MBP isn't going to do anything to make them faster, and it certainly won't fix a year old Dell that's breaking down.
I've yet to buy a PC notebook that has lasted for over a year. It seems like the day that year warranty expires is when they break down. Hard drive failure, hardware issues, etc. That's why I switched to a Mac, which has been going strong since I got it.
Take the money you'd spend on a hard drive and put it towards a MBP. It's a much better investment, as I guarantee the Dell will only get worse.
This is completely true, and I've just been hoping that the Dell would get better, but I will be buying a Macbook this year sometime, thx for the comment, I'm glad I know I'm not the only one :P .

Crucial is quite cheap: http://www.crucial.com/uk/mac/index.aspx 33.58 for the 4GB RAM from them if you buy the two 2GB modules separately.

This is my first Mac. This is my first desktop since 1998. This is my first computer period since 2006.
Ever since I got my iPad on release day last year I stopped using my PC.
That all being said, I realize now that things are missing. Stuff i used to have run through my PC (media), doing all my backups and updates on my work computer, and now my photography is getting disorganized (i keep it on an external drive at the office). Its time to get a computer for real.
But I can't decide whether or not I need, or should get, anything more than the base 21.5. I will need photoshop and lightroom, but other than playing a few games, i can't think of anything that is resource intensive (ok, ripping and encoding videos would be).
It just seems like most people here get the 27 or the i7 and all of the upgrades, and I'm wondering, what am i really missing with the smaller one?

Hey all,
Tried posting in another thread but got no response so trying to open a new one.
I'm looking to buy an external enclosure + dvd-r for my macs. I've currently got a tibook 667 and an imac g5... I've had trouble in the past with an LG drive in no-name enclosure...
The macs I tried it on would see it as a dvd/cd reader, but wouldn't burn to it using patchburn nor toast. It also wouldn't boot off cds/dvds sometimes.
The new drive I'm thinking to get will be a pioneer. I'm just wondering what models/brands of enclosures people have had success with, and also if pioneer drives work fine as well.
Thanks,
Dan

Yeah, dislocated shoulder is no fun at all. I popped mine out skiing about 15 years ago and it will still pop out every once in a while. You should definitely visit the doctor. Keep us posted.

Hi there, can anyone help?
I bought Aperture 2 many months ago, but found it wouldn't work on my Powerbook G4. I then switched to Adobe Lightroom, and put the Aperture software in the cupboard.
I've just sold the software, but the new user gets the error message, 'serial number invalid'. It's possible I entered the serial number (can't remember), but the software itself was never used. How do I get the software to work for someone else?
Many thanks for any help.

Do you know the meaning of the word "NDA"?
Well, to be fair to the OP, you can get Xcode 4.01 from the App Store for $4.99 on any Mac without agreeing to an NDA or any of the iOS/OSX developer program rules.
I agree that a patching system would make a huge difference, especially at this early stage of Xcode 4.x's development. I expect we'll see frequent updates as features are finalized and issues are discovered and cleared.

I'm surprised I couldn't find a thread like this already.. as the title says.. post your most recent rental such as a movie, tv show, game, etc.
Doesn't necessarily have to be from iTunes
And so it begins:
http://www.lifewithdogs.tv/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Due-Date-Poster.jpg
rented it the other day off apple tv. commercials made it funnier than it really was. i thought it was a let down.

if you shot a lot on Hi8 you might considering a cheap Digital8 camera, it has FireWire(DV) out and you can use it to playback older analog tapes and capture them trough FireWire(DV) without any problem
if you didn't shot anything in Hi8 yet... go for the more spread miniDV
or indeed an analog tranformer, but I don't know the good ones, but I think you might recon +400 EURO (541,68 USD) for one of those...
