and by this time all of you must have heard that Sen. Schumer is reaching out to Sen. Graham and Sen. Murkowski and other stakeholders to revive the legislation....please support IV lobbying plan in the first week of April by your presence or contribution or spreading the word! These things don't happen out of the blue - there is a strategy and methodical approach to everything IV does!

Our applications reached to TSC on July 27. I have received my receipts. But no receipts and no checks cashed for my wife's applications. Is anyone in the same situation?

Why would an entry on AP not apply here?
also gap in employement when on AOS should not be a problem given GC is for future employment and as long as your employer can give an EVL when required with the necessary info. Right?

We need a few catchy words to put in a community newsletter. This is for people who don't know about IV. It has to be something that will make people click on the text and come to IV website.
Here are a few suggestions I have got so far:

"Please join Immigration Voice and participate actively in the Administrative Fix campaign"

In that case we ourselves can keep a counter how many IV members did file 485 in June 07. It might give us a rough idea.
New filings will not effect to move the dates either you file on 1st or 30th. The Visa(GC) numbers will be deducted only after the approval of I-485. Any of these new filings will not be touched(Approved) for 4-5 months. USCIS has to consume the balance visas(GCs) before October 1st 2007.
If The Number of Visas > The number of Approved + To be approved(Mostly filed at least 4-5 months before) in the coming months.....then you can expect further movement from the State Department..
Ask(Pray) the USCIS(God) not to approve any 485's till June 15th....
So...there will not be any change in the movement of dates even all of them file on the day 1....Keep watching the approvals till June 10th atleast...

Why you will get GC quickly if you have more non-indians? OR
You are trying to be nice to them coz you are insecure of yourself in your subconscious mind? OR
Is it that he yelled at a non-indian which broke your sensitive heart?.

Sorry for asking many question, when you are trying to find answers to your problem.

My cousin went for her sister-in-law's wedding and at New Delhi airport, the Customs Officer asked her to show the bag. Apparently, there was good amount of jewelry. And she had to declare it in her passport.
She was not charged any duty but she had to show it again during the departure.
Hope it helps.
Has anybody travelled TO India with personal gold jewellery? I am not concerned about theft/security. My question is about Customs clearance at the airport. Do we need to declare it or pay customs duty?

I'm by no means saying that reformatting in itself is a bad thing - it should be fine to do it many times. It's just a waste of effort, since deleting the files will serve the same purpose.

infopass is almost useless. Open SR, contact senator and email the ombudsman.
Dont worry about dates, your PD will almost certainly remain current going forward. If 6 months pass by, your date remains current, processing times remain as they are and case is not approved, sue them (Writ of Mandamus):

I agree that we need to add a poll on how many are already waiting for adjudication in I-485. This will give a better understanding of visa dates will move going forward. I am sure state dept doesn't expect people applying in June to get their GC anytime before 2008.

As I came to U.S in 2006 and if i apply for my H1B Transfer in September 2010, please let me know how long will INS have it valid with the following scenario
1. If my labor from my previous employer (A) is approved (which in my case)
2. If my I140 from employer (A) is approved before September 2010 (Actually it will be filed in two weeks from now)

H1B transfer has nothing to do with your Labor or I-140 approval. The "transfer" is really like a new H1B application and will be treated as such. The I-140 approval comes into play only if you are past 6 years of your H1B, which you are not.

Good Luck to all of you, but nowadays if a person is below the age of 60, getting a Visitors Visa is difficult, but there are exceptional cases too.but no guarantee that they will issue a Visa. Show bank account, or real estate in their names, And also appoint letter may help, but there is no guarantee, only Visitor's visas issued for youngsters are Celebrities, Business persons, diplomats and if you are able to convince US consulate that you will come back for sure. (with proving documents!) otherwise it is difficult to my knowledge.

Do not believe on online status. Couple of my frds got their EAD and still online status is " Case Received and Pending". Looks like they are not updating the status on regular basis.
